Vision
Our goal is to normalize grief by enabling a culture of vulnerability in a safe and private digital environment.
The Goodgrief App provides a space for you to talk to others in a pressure-free way.
Our Story
Goodgrief Co-founders Kim and Robynne know firsthand that grief is hard. All too often people navigate the emotional rollercoaster of losing a loved one alone. Finding others who personally understand loss makes all the difference. It did for us.
In 2017, Kim and Robynne were going through their own respective heartaches. Kim’s partner died suddenly and unexpectedly. Robynne’s mom received a terminal breast cancer diagnosis. Both women were struggling and in shock. A mutual friend introduced them via a text message. And though they lived about 1,000 miles apart and had never met, they started sharing the rollercoaster of emotions that accompanied grief – pain, sadness, anger, frustration, loneliness, isolation, humor, and a strong need to forge something beautiful out of it.
Talking helps. Pain shared is pain lessened. The ongoing conversation turned into a pillar of support. At some point, they realized “we should create this for others!” And so, they have – a digital meeting ground where people find comfort, support and understanding. You are not alone.
How It Works
We make it as easy as possible to quickly connect with others who are going through similar struggles.
Find
Find our free app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Create a profile by answering questions related to your loss. We care about your safety, so all members will be reviewed before joining the app. Once approved, you can start connecting.
Connect
Connect through one-to-one in-app texting and photo sharing. Your private information is never public, and chats are private and secure. Additional filters narrow your connections by age, gender, religion, time frame, and type and cause of loss.
Chat
Start chatting today with as many or few people as works for you. Over time, you can develop deep, meaningful friendships through the app. These relationships help lighten the load of loss.
Our Hope For You
We believe that no one should have to grieve alone after losing someone they love. Grief needn’t be so scary, isolating, and unknown. That’s why we built Goodgrief app, to forge connection instead of isolation and support instead of abandonment.
None of us are making it through life without grief. And yet there are many unrealistic expectations around loss that make it harder and more painful. Finding others who personally understand grief makes all the difference.
The app was born from this type of cathartic connection when we faced our own losses. We texted daily about pure pain and the struggle to find a new normal when life felt anything but normal. And it helped. Now we want to support you.
